The new life
After almost 6 months I have returned to a restaurant.
Leaving home if possible, I used to go out during these last months very anxious to buy food in the supermarket, but nothing else.
It was all very strange, since March I made a promise to myself that I would eat my favorite food outside as soon as the shop reopened, only when it did.
according to the mayor of medellin "100 percent of the shops will be open (according to the date of the reopening of each sector), but there will still be controls on the capacity. According to the Secretary of Economic Development of Medellín, although it will depend on the size of each establishment, the capacity can be between 30 and 35 percent, guaranteeing social distance" (EL TIEMPO,2020)
When I arrived I realised that nothing was the same, before life was very simple, or at least that is how I perceive it, the opening was more for economic reasons, because it is true that not everyone has a fixed income, the average Colombian is informal. and a confinement of more than 150 days is very hard for anyone in economic terms.
Right now it is a global issue, there are two main concerns, the main one being world health, but to maintain good health in terms of a population without a shelter, some are being condemned to bad health due to malnutrition. for lack of money for food. and in the not too distant future I fear that the economic recovery will be so slow that insecurity will flourish much more in a country like colombia and in a city as unequal as medellin.
take good care of yourselves and have a lot of responsibility. it is life that is at stake,
Santiago
Amazing! This new life is very different, now you cant see the smile of your neighbor or just of a person that is walking beside you, you can´t give that strong hug to your grandpas for fear of unintentionally making them sick. And offcourse, just a visit to a restaurant for your favourite food makes you think. Wow, what a life !
