Education, in countries like Colombia during this pandemic has for me been one of the most affected sectors.
I have two little cousins who for economic reasons live in the countryside, and studying for them is a journey in normal times, because they have to walk approximately 30 minutes to go and 30 minutes to return to their school, and in this pandemic everything has been difficult for them because of the lack of connectivity both at home and at school in this rural area where they live.
How can it be that in 2020 a school cannot provide adequate accompaniment for a child? It seems that this is not only the case for my cousins.
A study by the Laboratorio de Economía de la Educación (LEE), of the Universidad Javeriana, reveals that 96 percent of the country's municipalities could not implement virtual lessons because less than half of the ten million public school students (about 37 percent) have a computer and Internet at home. Luz Karime Abadía, co-director of LEE, explains: "This clearly shows that we lack the technological resources in the country to deal with such a situation. (SEMANA, 2020)
educational coverage in colombia and in most developing countries has a huge gap with the education of developed countries. it seems that we are condemned to poverty because of our geographical location
I feel lucky to be writing this in my home where I have the internet, and to be enrolled in an excellent university that has given me the opportunity to study in confinement during this time.
for me technology and education (quality) should already be a reality for everyone.
For me the SDGs of 2030 due to the pandemic were some driven to develop faster, as was the access to health (3) and education (5), but as I said in a previous entry I see others that regressed, as is hunger and security and justice.

Hi Santi, I totally agree with you regarding the lack of technological resources in the country and due to this matter a lot of kids are not able to study . It angers me because what does the government expect? They want to implement virtual classes but most of the kids live in a house where their main income comes from informal jobs and nowadays don't have money to even buy food. Imagine the situation for those kids that want to study but don't have the means to buy food and for obvious reasons cant even get the chance to pay monthly internet . The Government can't expect to implement virtual classes if they don't provide all of those kids a computer and internet because then what are the kids going to do? This is a very critical matter, and should be taken into account because education is very important and regarding this situation a lot of kids are affected and it also affects our country regarding its development for future professionals.
